How Often Should Lawyers Blog?
How often should lawyers blog? This is a question I get asked a lot. Well, if you are looking to increase traffic to your website, or gain more online viability, then you should publish blogs to your website multiple times per week.
Search engines such as Google and Bing love fresh new content on websites. When you establish a frequent publishing schedule, you will get more of your content indexed. The more content search engines index from your website, the more visibility your content will receive on search engine result pages (SERP).
Take a look at this in depth report HubSpot published for more information on how blog publication frequency directly correlates to an increase in website traffic, online visibility, and the generation of new leads. Once you review the report, use my tips below to help increase your blog frequency and readership.
1. Create an Editorial Calendar
Create an editorial calendar to help keep you on track with publishing copy. Take time out of your busy schedule and create a content marketing strategy that consists of various marketing messages you want to share with your readers. Oftentimes, lawyers will begin to blog with no long term marketing strategy in place. That will work for a personal blog, but when you blog about your law practice, you should make sure you know your content marketing “end goal.”
2. Use Various Copywriting Tools to Create New Content
Use various copywriting tools from time-to-time to help promote your content online.
3. Use Social Media Networks to Distribute (Promote) Your Content
There are several channels available online in which you can utilize to promote your content and bring visitors (traffic) to your website. My go to medium are social media networks. Create a social media marketing plan to help you get started. If you want to increase your social media engagement, you need to tie engagement into an overall social marketing objective. Make sure you clearly define your marketing objectives prior to promoting your content on social networks.
In addition to frequently publishing blog articles, you also need to increase your readership. If your website has a low amount of monthly traffic, spend time building relationships with people (example- prospective clients) who would benefit from reading your blog articles. As you create more relationships, your readership will grow. Social media networking is a great way to meet people in addition to sharing your publications.
4. Measure Your Success
Finally, you should measure you copywriting success on a regular basis. Doing so will help you put the right amount of time, money, and energy into an effective copywriting campaign.
I hope the tips above help. Please comment below and let me know how often you blog and whether you see a direct correlation between your publications and an increase in website traffic.
